Alpaca Socks: A special winter socks
Warm and comfortable clothing during winter season is always preferred by majority of consumers. Sweaters and socks made out of wool and other animal fiber such as alpaca are the best choice to get. Garments that are made out of animal’s wool can keep you warm. However, there is also a downside in wearing one. Most of the problem that is being encountered in wearing wool fabric is that it has an inclination that can result in skin itch. Sometimes wool socks are uncomfortable. However, there is an alternative fiber that can keep you warm and will not make you itchy. This fiber comes from alpaca animals. These mammals produces hair called “fiber” or “fleece”. Compared to a cashmere and angora, alpaca fleece are softer. This is why alpaca socks are comfy in contrast to other fabric materials such as sheep’s wool. An alpaca fiber weighs lesser than other fabric. It is lustrous, durable, strong and best of all it is hypo allergenic.
Alpaca fiber texture
The texture of alpaca fibers varies according to their classifications. There are two types of alpaca- the Huacaya alpaca produces a fleece that is dense and water resistant. The Suri Alpaca grows fine and lustrous fibers. Both types can create a warm and cozy pair of alpaca socks. An alpaca hair is resilient and can last longer compared to regular wool fabrics. Aside from its resilience in nature, this fiber does not contain lanolin or grease and it is perfect for individuals who have sensitive skin. Because alpaca animals can produce over twenty natural colors, dyeing the fiber is not always necessary. This makes the material non- toxic or chemical free. In addition to this, alpaca fibers are environmentally friendly and 100 percent organic.
A special winter socks
A pair of alpaca socks will not only keep you warm, it also keeps your feet from moisture. Moisture wicking is a process where in the dampness is carried away from the skin. In most instances wearing socks made out of wool or cotton can make your feet sweaty. The capabilities of an alpaca fiber to wick moisture away is one key to keep your feet from perspiring. Wool or cotton socks can absorb the wetness. However, it does not have the same moisture wicking abilities like the alpaca fiber has. Another great factor about it is that it can still keep you warm even when it’s wet. This is because an alpaca animal’s hair protects them in extreme temperature changes. The same protection applies to humans when their fibers are transformed into garments. It also has the ability to resist solar radiation, which make the fabric cool when worn during summer season. Another fact is that the fiber contains great insulation. It is also preferred by hobbyist such as mountain climbers because of its natural hollow core fiber. Hollow core fibers warm up faster and are ideal to wear outdoors especially in cold temperatures. A 25 meters micron in diameter is what makes a good quality alpaca filament and creates a luxurious, flexible and soft to touch fabric
